New Perennial Corner Plot

SIZE: triangular corner plot 32m x 32m x 24m

STYLE: 'new perennial' planting with grasses

MATERIALS: a circle of York stone paving is sunk into a sweep of loose gravel for self-seeded plants; lower maintenance and more interesting than a lawn. Brick retaining walls match the house and create an open sitting area that was not available before.

Three oak cubes for this unique water feature were specially commissioned from a local sawmill. The natural wood shines through and water bubbles restfully, fitting with the natural style of the planting.

BRIEF: the client is a keen gardener, interested in new planting introductions and styles, and wanted a garden to work in in retirement
